This summer, Trinity Lutheran Church hosted an unforgettable SCUBA-themed Vacation Bible School (VBS) from June 10th-13th. It was an incredible week filled with fun, faith, and friendship as 195 children dove deep into learning about the love of Jesus. A heartfelt thank you goes to our 101 volunteers, led by Amy Atterholt, Angela Baker, Kari Emmons, Kristen McClain, and Dawn Forbes. With the support of our church community, this event became a powerful opportunity to share the Gospel with kids from all around the area.
At Trinity, we believe that children are not just the future of the church but an essential part of it right now. That’s why we pour our hearts into creating meaningful, joyful, and Christ-centered programs like VBS, where kids can grow in faith, make lifelong friendships, and experience God’s love in an engaging way.
What Made SCUBA VBS Special?
Each day of SCUBA VBS took kids on a deep dive into the Bible, exploring God’s love and friendship through stories, games, crafts, and worship. The theme centered around God being a real, trustworthy, and forever friend to everyone.
Here’s what the kids learned throughout the week:
- Day 1: God is a friend who’s real! (John 6:69)
Bible Story: God reveals Himself to Elijah (1 Kings 18-19). - Day 2: God is a friend forever! (John 11:25)
Bible Story: Jesus dies and comes back to life (John 18-20). - Day 3: God is a friend we can trust! (John 14:27)
Bible Story: Lydia believes in Jesus (Acts 16:11-15). - Day 4: God is a friend for everyone! (John 13:34)
Bible Story: Jesus calms the storm (Mark 4:35-41). - Day 5: God is a friend who loves! (John 3:16)
Bible Story: God shows compassion to Nineveh (Jonah 1-3).
Unique VBS Features that Made an Impact
- Sticky Scripture Station: This hands-on approach helped kids take Bible memory from head to heart, ensuring they UNDERSTOOD God’s Word, APPLIED it in their lives, and REMEMBERED it for years to come.
- Imagination Station: Each day, kids participated in science-fun activities that sparked creativity and led to faith-filled discoveries.
- God Sightings: Children were encouraged to look for God at work in their everyday lives, fostering an awareness of His presence beyond VBS.
- R.E.A.L. Learning: Trinity’s SCUBA VBS is rooted in Relational, Experiential, Applicable, and Lifelong learning, ensuring that kids didn’t just hear about God’s love—they experienced it.
A Week of Worship, Fun, and Friendship
The SCUBA VBS week was packed with vibrant worship sessions led by Mark Koehler and Kim Wolbert, games, crafts, and lessons designed to ignite a love for Jesus. With a beautiful under-the-sea theme, our decorations and activities made it feel like a true ocean adventure, and the energy from the kids was inspiring!
Whether through water-themed games or worship music that got everyone dancing, every moment of SCUBA VBS brought kids closer to understanding God’s deep love for them. It was a joy to watch the children grow in their relationship with Christ while having an absolute blast with their friends.
Get Involved with Trinity’s Children’s Ministry
SCUBA VBS was just one of the many ways we invest in the spiritual growth of children at Trinity. Throughout the year, we offer various programs like Sunday School, Children’s Choirs, the Beacon After-School Program, and more. At Trinity, we partner with parents to nurture children’s faith in a safe and joyful environment. We invite your family to join us in creating a strong foundation of faith, fun, and friendship for the next generation. Whether you’re new to the area or searching for a community that will help your children grow in Christ, we’d love for you to be part of our Trinity family.
Stay Tuned for Next Year’s VBS!
