At Trinity Lutheran Church, we are committed to the education and spiritual growth of our children. That’s why we offer the Montessori Good Shepherd Program, a weekday early childhood program for children ages 2 ½ to 5 years old. Our program combines Bible-based lessons with the proven principles of Montessori education, creating a nurturing environment where children develop spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually.

Cindy Duffey

Montessori Director
As the Director of the Trinity Montessori Good Shepherd Preschool, Cindy brings years of teaching and administration experience to her role. Her passions align with our daily commitment to provide a safe learning space where children ages 2 ½ to 5 can meet and experience Christ. Cindy received her Early Childhood Education degree from Lorain County Community College and spent 15 years as state-approved and trained foster parent in Ashland County. After volunteering in 2014 and joining the team in 2016 as a teacher, Cindy took over the Director position in 2018. Her goal is to provide your child with a loving, supportive environment where they can develop and deepen their faith while also having a great time!

Education at a

Critical Time

Our Montessori program is born out a love for the children of our community and exists to fill a gap within the local area. This program was started by Lyn Sorenson as a Sunday School class that has been part of Trinity’s Sunday School for many years and has grown into this weekday program. Families interested in program enrollment or seeking more information may pick up an information packet in our Church Office at 508 Center Street, Ashland, or call 419-289-2126, or email Cindy Duffy at montessori@trinityashland.org.

Our program is designed to foster independence, curiosity, and a love for learning in young children, while also helping them grow in their relationship with God. Here are the key areas we focus on:

  • Social-Emotional Development: Children learn important life skills such as sharing, taking turns, and expressing their feelings in healthy ways.
  • Physical Development & Fitness: We focus on improving fine motor skills, movement, and sensory exploration through active, hands-on experiences.
  • Cognitive Experiences: Through reasoning, problem-solving, and language development, we help children build the foundation for academic success.
  • Creative Experiences & Expression: Our program includes music, movement, and dramatic play to encourage creative expression and joyful participation.
  • Religious Development: Children grow in love and trust in God through Bible-based lessons and learn how to talk to God through prayer.
